Monday, April 9
WYCLIFFE GORDON'S "One Man Band"

Sidney Bechet's One Man Band gained notoriety when Bechet played all instruments in his recording of The Sheik of Araby. On April 9 Wycliffe Gordon will play the trombone, trumpet, tuba, piano, bass, didgeridoo and other instruments, and vocalize. Eric Reed, Jay Leonhart and others will accompany him.

Monday May 21st
EVAN CHRISTOPHER'S "Les Amis du Jazz"

Now based in Paris, Evan has assembled a band of the brightest stars of classic jazz in the French scene. With the support of the French American Cultural Exchange and Chamber Music of America, Evan will present his new quintet, with special guest Jon-Erik Kellso. The band boasts many rare Bechet compositions in their repertoire and will be making the US release of their CD at this concert.

Derek Smith who has hosted many 92nd Street Y concerts with Dick Hyman will recall the best parts of the 92nd Street Y concerts at the Sidney Bechet Society.
